On 7^th December 2023, in Tirana, a discussion table was organised within the Working Group for Chapter 24 under the National Convention on European Integration and the Partnership Platform on European Integration, from the European Movement in Albania and the Ministry of Interior of Albania. With the participation of civil society actors, experts involved in Chapter 24 issues, representatives from university and professionals from public administration, the focus of the discussion was the presentation of the Rule of Law Roadmap and the concrete steps expected after the opening of the Cluster 1 – Fundamentals, after the screening process was successfully completed for Albania. On December 7, 2023, the roundtable for Chapter 5 – Public Procurement titled “Main issues and involvement of civil society actors” in the framework of the establishment of the Discussion and Consultation Roundtables under the European Integration Partnership Platform was held in Tirana jointly convened by the European Movement in Albania, and the Agency for Public Procurement, as the central body responsible for the well-going of the public procurement system in Albania. The purpose of this roundtable was to present the public procurement as the regime that can provide for transparency, equal treatment, free competition and non-discrimination in its general principles, to highlight the alignment process of the Albanian legal framework vis-à-vis the EU acquis, and to introduce the public call for membership into the Chapter 5 Roundtable within EIPP as well. The roundtable brought together representatives of various institutions, civil society organizations, academic and media actors, privately entrepreneurship whose interests are closely related to the European Integration process. On March 24, 2023, the European Movement in Albania (EMA) and the National Council of European Integration (KKIE) in collaboration with the Slovak Foreign Policy Association, with the financial support of SlovakAid, held the Plenary Session of the National Convention for European Integration 2021-2023. During this period, four established working groups have held together 16 sessions, where important topics within the scope of each group have been addressed in the framework of the country’s European integration. On March 6, 2023, another session of the  Working Group II “Justice, Freedom, Security” was held in Tirana, on the topic “Irregular migration and the increased risk of smuggling in Albania – protection of migrants’ rights and inter-institutional cooperation”. The aim of this activity is first of all to inform about the issues regarding irregular migration, focusing on the smuggling of migrants as an increasingly evident predicament in Albania, which is turning into a challenge for authorities to prevent it as well as having negative effects on the security and rights of migrants.

On 21 February 2023, the next session of Working Group I was held in Tirana on the topic “The Impact of EU Legislation on the National Judicial System, during and after EU Accession”. This was held under the 2021-2023 National Convention for European Integration implemented by EMA and the Slovak Foreign Policy Association (SFPA) with financial support from SlovakAid. Working Group I, with the expertise of its experts, is examining and discussing topics in the field of fundamental rights, the fight against corruption, justice reform and the screening process for Chapter 23. The activity was held in a hybrid format, with physical participation in the premises of the Advocacy School and online on the ZOOM platform. On February 8, 2023, the discussion table for Chapter 24 was held in Tirana, on the topic “The fight against cybercrime in Albania – New challenges in the framework of the Integration process”. This activity was organized by the Ministry of the Interior and the European Movement in Albania (EMA), within the framework of the Partnership Platform for European Integration (PPEI) and the National Convention for European Integration (NCEI). Among the activity attendees were representatives from state institutions such as the Ministry of the Interior and the State Police, as well as members of the Chapter 24 Discussion and Consultation Table of PPEI, from civil society, universities and the private sector.
